Maybe have to go back to work. Not something I want my 89 year old mother doing...how about you? We are seeing a lot of the boomer having not put a lot back for retirement and in a recession enviroment a market loss could put off retriement for 5 to 8 years to make up for. It's better to have a plan and not need it then to need a plan and not have one... The best laid plans are not constructed under pressure... Do it now sit down with an advisor a CPA, CEP, CFP or a RFC and review assets and plan for the worst. and where do you want to be in 5 year or 10 year or in retirement. Robert Arnold - CEPWausau, WIThanks for all the advice, Robert.J WHAT DO YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT? (2/12/08) OK, it's one of those weeks when I really have no idea what to talk about.

Bureaucracy makes a mockery of RTI
The bureaucracy in Haryana has virtually reduced the Right to Information Act to a toothless law, which is being observed more in its breach than observance. The most common ploy used by bureaucrats is to supply misleading or contradictory information to those seeking information under the Act. The other standard gambit is to force the applicant to move the appellate authority, thus passing the buck upwards. RTI activists allege that the dilatory tactics of the senior bureaucrats has over a period shown the way to junior officers to follow suit and harass applicants. This has led to a sharp increase in the cost of seeking information. An avid RTI activist, Anil Bhatia, says he has been fighting against the control being exercised by the DAV Colleges Management Committee based in New Delhi over its colleges in Haryana for the past 20 years.
Hillary Clinton on Foreign Policy
But I will not be penciling in the leaders of Iran or North Korea or Venezuela or Cuba on the presidential calendar without preconditions, until we have assessed through lower level diplomacy, the motivations and intentions of these dictators. Raul Castro, for example, has a stark choice. He can continue to stifle human rights and economic freedom in Cuba, or he can chart a new course toward democratic reform. We need to engage with our allies in Latin America and Europe to encourage Cuba on to the right path. But we simply cannot legitimize rogue regimes or weaken American prestige by impulsively agreeing to presidential level talks that have no preconditions. It may sound good but it doesn't meet the real world test of foreign policy. I have traveled to so many countries working on issues involving some of the most intractable challenges we face.
Britney Gets a House Call
News that Spears' bodyguard escorted the doctors from the Westwood-based medical center to her home in the posh, gated community of Summit Circle at approximately 2 p.m. They subsequently met with her for two hours before departing around 4 p.m.No word on the nature of the checkup. However Mark Vincent Kaplan, the attorney for the popster's ex-hubby Kevin Federline, told E! News last week that as part of her agreement to retain visitation rights with her kids, Spears is obligated to undergo "custody evaluation" by medical experts among other requirements. The "Toxic" singer's privileges were reinstated after a deal was hammered out between Federline's camp and lawyers for Luce Forward, the law firm which is handling Britney's temporary conservatorship for her dad, Jamie Spears. A court awarded the elder Spears the conservatorship on Jan.
Source: H-F suspends Sanni, Saffold for game

The Ins and Outs of Selling a Small Business
But the process of retiring isn't nearly as easy for the Salsers and their entrepreneurial cohorts as it is for boomers with jobs. No doubt that all retirees confront financial and psychological hurdles. But entrepreneurs face another complication altogether: what to do with their companies. Some small number will pass the business to a child. A minuscule slice will take companies public. But for the Salsers and most owners, selling is the only realistic exit strategy. And that, it turns out, is a full-time job that most entrepreneurs aren't well prepared to do. Depending upon the industry, the success of a business, the hush-hush nature of the sale, the complications of financing and a number of other factors, it can take six months to three years to sell a company. And many never sell.
Slowly and unsurely, Iraqis who fled the bombings are beginning to ...
Wally really believes it. He's an extremist of the far right, which you'll find is no different from an extremist of the far left. 'YouTube' doesn't really count as websites anyway, since you or I, or anyone else with a camera, can stage a video and present it as truth, complete with link. Unfortunately, this seems to be the state of the world right now - us moderates are caught between the nutballs of the far left and the nutballs of the far right. .
Say It Ain’t So, Ralph!
I had mixed feelings when some friends of mine pointed out that Ralph Nader had mentioned me as an "independent military analyst" in his Sunday appearance on NBC's Meet the Press. In responding to a question from Tim Russert about why he was running yet again, he cited a recent article of mine about how Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have not only ignored the Pentagon's record spending spree, but have adopted policies that may well involve increasing the military budget. My point was that we need to get the Democratic frontrunners to address this issue in some fashion before they take office in 2009 (assuming a Democrat wins, which is not guaranteed by any means). It was NOT meant to suggest that we need a third party candidate in the race — although obviously Ralph Nader is free to use the information as he sees fit.
