Attorneys attack deputy's credibility in explosives case

A federal judge must now decide whether the actions and racist banter of South Carolina deputies are enough to dismiss crucial evidence being used against two Egyptian students arrested with explosives material.

Attorneys spent two days meticulously picking apart the Aug. 4 traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of Youssef Samir Megahed and Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed near Charleston.

Both deputies who stopped and searched the pair's car acknowledged they made racist statements about the pair - equating them to the Taliban and joking about them being suicide bombers.

Defense attorneys argued the deputies acted improperly and lacked probable cause to detain the pair and search their vehicle. They said bullets and loosely packed explosive material seized during the stop should be ruled inadmissible during trial.

Reign of Terror - The South Hill Rapist

I have read "Son" and I currently work for a local hospital and we work with the criminal insane. I do not believe that Kevin Coe should ever be released. I hope that the Spokane County prosecuting attorneys can find just cause to file the civil suit, we do not need this man back in Spokane. I do not believe the man has been rehabilitated and needs to remain in a secure environment till his death.

Zabasearch.com is a free online search tool that allows you to search for people and personal information. Its basically a People Search Engine that searches available public records such as phone listings, court records, real property records and subscriptions.

Zabasearch ONLY searches for people, so unlike an identical search conducted with Google, a Zabasearch will show you a results page with records of people and nothing else.

If at some point in time you determine that youd like to remove your personal information from Zabasearch results, Id suggest reviewing the information provided here: http://tinyurl.com/kxdeg.

Bridge toll could span 59 years

It could be ten more years. It could be twenty more years," he said, referring to how long the Turnpike Authority may have to extend the bridge toll. "It depends upon how much traffic grows. The more traffic grows, the more revenue you have. There are a lot of variables" involved.

One thing is certain. Little, if any, state funding will be available to pay for the project, DeWitt said.

"The transportation financing problems in the state are quite large," he said. "That is why the toll authority was created. This (bridge) is really being designed to be a user-fee (funded) project."

Increasing the toll could be an option, but that, too, may be unlikely. The Turnpike Authority conducted a study that evaluated projected traffic on the bridge over a typical 39-year bonding period.

AMERICA'S CUP: Swiss and American clubs continue to battle over next ...

New York Supreme Court Judge Herman Cahn ruled in December that Alinghi, the sailing syndicate that represents SNG, must face a boat from Golden Gate YC in 10 months.

Judge Cahn invalidated an earlier challenge from a Spanish yacht club that the Americans had argued was a puppet organization formed expressly to give Alinghi unprecedented and unfair control of an America's Cup that the Swiss had planned for 2009.

It didn't help the Swiss cause when officials from that Spanish club amiably admitted that they were just a legal fiction that would let SNG control the event and keep the money it brings in Valencia, Spain, where Alinghi successfully defended the cup last July.

Cahn ruled last month that the Spanish club didn't meet the standards of the 1887 Deed of Gift that governs America's Cup competition.

Steroids foul baseball again

Clemens, fresh off his goodwill tour of Congress with looseleaf binder in hand and flattery on his lips for the men who are supposed to be investigating him, will be on the stand tomorrow trying to refute the allegations of a personal trainer, a guy who makes his living counting reps. And, if you believe Brian McNamee, administering injections.

The fact that his former training partner and buddy, Andy Pettitte, has been excused from testifying, having apparently given up enough in his deposition to blast the Rocket into lunar orbit, only makes it worse. Now, the congressmen are free to do what the Indians did to Roger in the ALDS - dig in and swing away for as long as they like.

Meanwhile, across the country, Bonds and his lawyers prepare to do battle with federal prosecutors on five counts of perjury and obstruction of justice charges stemming from his testimony to a grand jury investigating his alleged steroid use.

Back up photos on the road

Every minute of footage can fill 100MB or more of storage. To save space, you may want to edit video on the camera to remove the less interesting parts. This kind of feature is available on newer Canon, Olympus, and other cameras. It's no iMovie, but it typically allows you to trim a series of frames from the beginning or end of a clip.

Create backups

There's a downside to relying solely on media cards for storage: if a problem develops with your card, you could lose all your photos. Flash-memory cards are susceptible to accidental erasure and even corruption. They're also small (especially SD cards), and therefore easy to misplace. That's why it's a good idea to back up images. Here are some options:

Transfer to an iPod Using the $29 Apple iPod Camera Connector, you can transfer images from a digital camera to a photo-capable iPod (except the iPod nano, alas) via your camera's USB cable (see “Image Go-Between").

QB mystique: From castoff to greatest

The greatest quarterback of all time was originally unwanted, rejected, rebuffed and basically projected to be a stiff in the judgment of the wise men who select athletes for the sophisticated NFL.

Now, I am uncertain as to the identity of the greatest quarterback of all time. This special individual, once deemed bereft of talent, keeps changing from year to year. And from era to era. And who's to argue?

It might be Tom Brady. He is the current greatest quarterback of all time, as anointed by ESPN.

But now near the climax of his remarkable renaissance, Brett Favre has been selected by a gaggle of self-styled experts as the greatest quarterback of all time.

Interfax's Interview

Talks are an exact process. They require certain formulas and clarity: just as mathematics or physics. Subsequently, we asked to formalize these intentions in a form of a simple and clear proposal that the U.S. was ready to put forward. We waited for almost a month and a half. It is likely that this was the time required for the U.S. administration to adjust the wording and possibly to hold additional talks with partners. But what we finally saw lacked the elements that would have shown the U.S.s real readiness to not only hear, but also to listen to us.

It is likely that the Moscow proposals outran what the U.S. administration is really ready for.

One of the elements of the U.S. oral proposal was the permanent presence of Russian officers at missile defense facilities in the Czech Republic and Poland.

Unbridgeable: The ethnic divide in Kosovo

They were on big fat chairs sitting during all other nations there working for them.

Why should i work for you? Why went Slovens, than Croats, Bosnia, Macedonia, even your twin brother Montenegro went! Why shoud Kosova stay?Because of mines over there? This is only a process of desintegration of a big evil State. You have still a big propaganda programe against all your "enemies".

It will be much better, everyone works for himself. Therefore this had nothing to do with other Countries or minorities. This is only the last part falling from a mosaique called YU. Live in peace!

Another day, another death

Or we can take a stand to change the conditions that make such violence, though not common, much too frequent.

Police and prosecutors have shown that after one of these horrible crimes is committed, they can find suspects, arrest them and ensure they are brought to justice. But our efforts at prevention — before the attack, when kids reveal problems in school, at home, in their neighborhoods — have been abysmal. If we're ever going to change the environment that permits such horrendous violence to take root, that's where we need to work.

Especially since the victims of that violence, and the suspects, seem to be growing younger with each incident. Most recently, 15-year-old Dominic Young was gunned down during a restaurant robbery in Norfolk. The suspects — ages 13, 14, 15 and 18 — were arrested this week.
