Patriot missiles: Iraq Veterans Against the War
Some of them will be okay. They will live with the secrets. They can dissociate from what happened in combat because it was part of the job. It was what they signed up for. They will keep the secrets out of duty – the silence is part of a code, and they honour that code above all else. But for others, the secrets they keep are like a poison, slowly releasing toxins of shame and remorse. Who can they tell anyway? They talk to each other – other veterans who have seen what they’ve seen, done what they’ve done, and who can relate to the burden of carrying these secrets for the rest of their lives. In 1971, the protest group Vietnam Veterans Against the War gathered at a hotel in Detroit. More than 100 veterans talked about the atrocities they had witnessed in southeast Asia.
Judge delays trial of students accused of transporting explosives
The trial of two Egyptian college students charged with transporting explosive materials has been delayed. The case was scheduled to begin next week in Tampa but a judge said Wednesday that attorneys should be ready to begin on April 28. The trial is expected to last up to two weeks. Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed (AKH'-med ab-dell-ah-TEEF' sheh-REEF' moh-HAH'-med) and Youssef Samir Megahed (you-SEF' sah-MEER' meh-GAH'-head) remain in a Tampa jail. The pair were arrested last year near Charleston, S.C., during a traffic stop when authorities found loosely packed explosive material in the trunk of their car. Mohamed also faces an additional terrorism-related charge for allegedly making a video demonstrating how to convert a remote-control toy into a bomb.

He's a tremendous football player, a great athlete," Ledford said. "He's a kid that has played just about every position on the field for us. I think he's going to be a big surprise for a lot of people. We're kind of in a rural area. I think if Alfonzo were in a metro area, he would be a lot bigger name." Playing Class A ball, the lowest classification in Georgia, Dennard's team made it to the state championship game this season. Dennard played both wide receiver and cornerback. His twin brother, Lorenzo, was the quarterback. Lorenzo is going to community college in Hutchinson, Kan., to play ball. Dennard gives NU 22 commitments.
Young car thieves' run comes to crashing end
PARKLAND, Wash. -- A group of teenagers in a stolen car crashed into a home in Pierce County on Wednesday while trying to get away from pursuing deputies. Sheriff spokesman Ed Troyer said the driver crashed the gold Cadillac sedan through the wall of a home in the 1010 block of Park Avenue South about 11:15 a.m. No one was in the house at the time and the two boys and one girl in the car were not seriously injured. Troyer said the 17 year old and the two 16 year olds who crashed the Cadillac also stole a Dodge Durango SUV earlier in the day and crashed it near the intersection of 72nd Street and Trafton Street in Tacoma. Teens took out a 1,000-pound telephone pole in that crash. "I just heard one loud smack, that's it," said witness David Knigge.

CLEARWATER, Fla., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- When it came time for CNN to plan its coverage of the 2008 election campaign, the decision was made: Have Parliament Coach and Frontline Communications build the Ultimate News Bus. To view the Multimedia News Release, go to: http://www.prnewswire.com/mnr/parliamentcoach/31498/ During the 2004 election, CNN experimented with Hank Williams' former touring bus, a 1980 Eagle. That coach required a separate satellite truck for linking to the network. It provided an opportunity to see whether a bus was a useful feature in the network's campaign coverage. The venture was a success, but it triggered thoughts of how it might be done better. Enter David Bohrman, CNN Senior Vice President and Washington, D.C.

Will Sam Gash be new RB coach?
Do you think that Barry Sanders would've retired if he had the same offensive line that the Emmit Smith had? Dudes, Barry would've probably pushed that record up another 3000 or more yards in less time than Emmit would've caught it and everyone believes that BECAUSE IT'S ALL TRUE. Maybe instead of seeing a 2000 yard season you'd see a 2500 yard season with an awesome offensive line. There are a lot of people that despise Kitna around here. I think that after the Arizona game he was trying too hard to make something happen so he could live up to his prediction. I think that maybe God didn't answer his prayer because maybe he shouldn't be so bold? I think that maybe God humbled him a little bit instead of willing the Lions to a 10 win season. I mean, a 10 win season is a bold statement when you won 3 games the year before and the team has sucked for so long.
Red Cross prepares for flooding
X Talk to your insurance agent. Homeowners policies do not cover flooding. Ask about the National Flood Insurance Program. X Use a NOAA Weather Radio with a tone-alert feature, or a portable, battery-powered radio for updated emergency information. X Develop a family evacuation plan. Everyone in your family should know where to go if they have to leave. Trying to make plans at the last minute can be upsetting and create confusion. X Discuss floods with your family. Everyone should know what to do in case all family members are not together. Discussing floods ahead of time helps reduce fear and anxiety and lets everyone know how to respond. About the American Red Cross: The American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disasters at home and abroad, collects and distributes nearly half of the nation's blood supply, teaches lifesaving skills, and supports military members and families.
